Football Communications Intern - San Francisco 49ers (Santa Clara, CA)

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Seeking one intern with excellent writing and research skills responsible for supporting the San Francisco 49ers communications department.
  2. Prepare/distribute daily morning and mid-day clips to pertinent members of the organization.
  3. Record and transcribe all coach/player/personnel press conferences and distribute to media.
  4. Assist with all publications (weekly book, gameday magazine, updated media guide, etc.).
  5. Distribute mailing information/packets for each week’s information guide (weekly book) for printer.
  6. Help facilitate and execute player media requests.
  7. Assist postgame needs (locker room access, game notes, etc.).
  8. Aid in the promotion of Levi’s Stadium and majority of all non-49ers gameday events.


  1.  Must have strong working knowledge of NFL Game Statistics & Information System (GSIS) as well as NFL Game Notes
  2. Able to work non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings. This includes working all home games, in addition to the entirety of team training camp.
  3. Basic understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, in addition to Adobe resources (InDesign, Photoshop, etc.).
  4. Must be dependable, flexible and able to adapt to a variety of situations and personalities
  5. Must excel in verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Ability to interact well with individuals throughout all levels of the organization.
  7. Must be able to effectively work in a fast-paced, high pressure environment and demonstrate the ability to juggle multiple projects.

Community Relations Intern - San Francisco 49ers (Santa Clara, CA)

DESCRIPTION:  The San Francisco 49ers Community Relations Department seeks a season-long intern to join the Club in support of its volunteer outreach efforts.

PURPOSE:  To provide a hard-working, dedicated candidate with an internship opportunity to experience the work environment of the 49ers Community Relations Department during a full season.  Upon completion of the internship, it is our hope that the knowledge gained is one that provides great value and experience that will support future career endeavors in the sports industry.

DUTIES:  The following is a general list of duties pertaining to the community relations internship.  This list may change based on the needs throughout the internship or tasks related to completing a particular assignment:

  • Position is located in Santa Clara with game day and community responsibilities throughout Silicon Valley with occasional events in San Francisco and other Bay Area locales.
  • Intern will work a 30-40 hour week and will be required to work frequent weekends, all 49ers home game days, and occasional evenings. Must be able to work all days of the week.
  • Intern will respond to community requests via phone, e-mail, and mail
  • Intern will assist with coordinating player involvement with various community events and activities.
  • Intern will assist CR and PR staff with drafting and editing stories, tweets, photo blogs, videos and posts and other media and social media outreach efforts.
  • Intern will assist in maintaining database of community appearances, donations and inventory.
  • Intern will manage donation request fulfillment and the Champions Program.

EXPECTATIONS: The following contributions are required of the 49ers CR intern:

  • Professionalism in all interactions with fans, corporate partners, fellow 49ers staff members and 49ers players, alumni, executives and coaches
  • Punctuality and accountability is essential for all aspects of intern role
  • Excellent organization skills are required
  • Strong oral communication skills and cultural competency, including the ability to interact comfortably with people in all walks of life is necessary
  • Availability on all days of the week (including weekends) late July 2017 – January 2018
  • Responsible for providing his or her own housing in the Bay Area

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants are reviewed based on the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Involvement in campus leadership activities, college sports, club sports is preferred
  • Prior experience in event planning is recommended, but not required
  • Prior experience in community service and customer service is desired
  • Driver's License, record in good standing and insurance required

Production Intern - San Francisco 49ers (Santa Clara, CA)

General Statement of Duties: Serve as an intern to the 49ers in-house production team 49ers Studios (FNS).  Will assist and act as point-of-contact with 49ers media partners in all technical and format issues of 49ers programming.  Assist producers in the development of all in-house programming elements (editing, shooting, design, research.)  Act as an extension of the producers for weekly and daily needs.

Areas of Responsibility:

-          Assist in the production/post production of FNS television, web and stadium productions.

-          Act as point of contact for  Produce web content, population of site, editorial work, live
           production point of contact.

-          Assist and act as point-of-contact with 49ers television and radio partners on all technical and format

-          Perform tasks as needed (live production, shooting, sound recording, gripping, edit direction, color
           correction, audio editing and mixing.)

-          Act as liaison between producers, working on multiple projects weekly across platforms (Live
           broadcasts, on-air broadcasts and multimedia.)

-          Have familiarity with all production gear, maintain studio, gear and production areas.

-          Work along producers to manage and log footage.  Work with team’s archive and historical footage data

-          Perform additional duties as assigned from time-to-time by Senior Producer, Producers and Vice
           President / Executive Producer.



A minimum of 1 year of experience in the broadcast field is required.  Knowledge of broadcast equipment needed. Strong understanding of post-production, field/studio/location-production, non-linear editing knowledge a must – Adobe Premiere desired.  Demonstrated good communication and learning skills.  Versatility, organization, responsibility and dependability an absolute must.

Graphic Design Intern - San Francisco 49ers (Santa Clara, CA)

 Primary Responsibilities:

The graphic designer intern will conceptualize, visualize and design marketing materials in support of the team’s business operations. The position will be responsible for managing multiple projects under the guidance of the team’s Art Director as well as the Brand Marketing Manager. The position will report to the Art Director.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Create overall design solutions that are grounded in solid conceptual thinking, while complementing the 49ers  brand.
• Develop innovative, cohesive, and effective graphic presentations for signage, collateral materials, direct mail, email marketing, offline and online advertising and web/mobile.
• Create promotional or specialty advertising including game day and grassroots giveaways (i.e., t-shirts, bumper stickers, etc.).
• Design logos for various marketing and charitable initiatives.
• Assist with other graphic design requests as required such as sponsorship presentations and PowerPoint templates.
• Perform print production tasks including, but not limited to, file preparation, color correction, proofing and press-checks.
• Take part in multiple rounds of editing on any given project.
• Partner with the rest of the marketing team to create cohesive messaging and consistent branding.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Strong foundational knowledge of layout, color, grids, icons, typography, proportion, photography, and             motion/rich internet media.
• Awareness of the latest design and photography trends and ability to adapt these trends into strategic             designs within the 49ers brand.
• Ability to take constructive criticism and change direction to suit operational needs.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and effectively, making timely decisions in order to meeT project deadlines and business needs.
• Ability to handle high pressure situations in a professional manner.
• Ability to keep projects on track creatively and in accordance with production deadlines, budget guidelineS and 49ers brand standards.
• Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite 6 (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
• Excellent knowledge of Mac OS (primary).
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Excellent attention to detail, strong proofreading skills and the ability to edit copy when needed.
• Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
• Positive attitude toward colleagues and outside vendors.
• High level of interest, involvement and enthusiasm.
• Punctual and professional.


Bachelor’s degree in graphic design preferred.
A strong portfolio encompassing a variety of mediums and assignments using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office.
