Executive Director, 49ers Foundation - San Francisco 49ers (Santa Clara, CA)

The San Francisco 49ers are seeking a collaborative, positive, and hard-working individual to serve as the Executive Director of the 49ers Foundation. The Executive Director will direct fundraising efforts and work closely with funded programs to ensure both fiscal responsibility and visibility for those programs. This position is an employee of the team entity and reports to the General Counsel in that function and also reports to the Foundation Chairman of the Board in its role with the Foundation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a five-year strategic plan for the Foundation with respect to fundraising, board development, and giving
  • In collaboration with accounting firm, prepare and manage annual budget and execute sound financial practices.
  • Keep Board informed and engage Board members to make introductions to influential individuals and organizations. 
  • Collaborate with grant recipients and Team-affiliated philanthropic efforts, including the 49ers STEAM Education Program and Youth Football, to increase visibility of flagship programs.
  • Collaborate with internal 49ers event and operating departments to ensure that Foundation events are conducted in a professional manner, raise funds, and gain new donors.
  • Work creatively with the Community Relations, Corporate Partnership and other team departments.
  • Develop relationships with business, philanthropic, academic, and government leaders; as well as a pipeline  of prospects and solicit donors.
  • Maintain official records to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Work with the National Football League Foundation to secure individual team contributions.
  • Research new grant opportunities and write grant proposals to corporations, foundations, and government entities.
  • Oversee game day 50/50 raffle.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum five years of management and relationship development experience in a non-profit setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive sustainable nonprofit fundraising programs.
  • Significant experience with strategic planning and translating strategies into concrete action plans.
  • Outstanding time management, and organizational skills.
  • Oral and written communication skills that facilitate simultaneous outreach to underserved organizations, potential donors, and decision makers.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Must be available to work extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
